- EquiCopy
-
- 5 1/4" <--> 3 1/2" disk copying utility
-
-
- EquiCopy allows a user with a 1.2 meg floppy drive and a 1.44 meg
- floppy drive to copy disks between the two drives as if they were
- equivalent. The resultant disk is a copy of the original down to
- the sector level; in short, if you are copying a 1.44 meg 3 1/2"
- diskette to your 5 1/4" drive, you end up with a 1.44 meg 5 1/4"
- diskette.
-
- The syntax of EquiCopy is similar to DISKCOPY -- an origin drive
- and destination drive are specified on the command-line. There are
- no other parameters.
-
- The program probably requires an AT BIOS in order to operate
- properly; however, no checks are performed to ensure that an AT
- BIOS is installed on the chance that something else (like an XT
- with high-density drives) will also work. Caution is highly
- recommended when first testing this software on your system although
- no damage to anything (hardware or software) has been reported. The
- author is not responsible for any damages resulting from the use of
- this product.

- Troubleshooting:
-
- 1) Make sure you are using disks of the same density. In other words,
- if you are copying a double-density disk in drive A:, place a double
- density disk in drive B:, not a high-density disk. Using disks of
- improper density will result in unreliable operation.
-
- 2) If the EQUIFIX utility is required for your computer to properly read
- disks copied by EQUICOPY, then you will not be able to boot from a disk
- copied by EQUICOPY.
-
- 3) If you are having problems with reliability or your computer fails to
- recognize a disk created by EQUICOPY, try the EQUIFIX utility from the
- command line, and then try using the disk again. If the disk is still
- unreadable, your hardware may not be capable of working with EQUICOPY.
- While this is rare, it has been reported with some external PS/2 drives.
- If EQUIFIX solves the problem, consider installing it as a device
- driver. It takes very little room.
